Community guidelines
Welcome to MeandMyOCD. Our aim is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental community for people affected by OCD. We want everyone to feel comfortable being themselves, sharing their experiences and talking openly about what they are going through.
OCD can involve extremely distressing, unwanted and intrusive thoughts. We understand that having a thought does not mean you want to act on it, and that thoughts do not define who you are. To help keep MeandMyOCD safe and supportive for everyone, we ask all members to follow these guidelines.

You must be 16 years of age or older to use MeandMyOCD.
MeandMyOCD is specifically an OCD support community.
You are welcome to discuss your OCD, intrusive thoughts, compulsions, anxiety surrounding OCD, recovery, treatment experiences and the impact OCD has on your everyday life.
Posts that are deliberately created to promote discussions unrelated to OCD may be removed.
We understand that OCD can involve extremely upsetting intrusive thoughts, including thoughts about subjects that people may find frightening, disturbing or shameful.
You are welcome to talk about experiencing intrusive thoughts and seek support from the community. However, please do not provide graphic, explicit or unnecessary descriptions of disturbing thoughts, sexual content, abuse, violence or other sensitive subjects.
You do not need to describe an intrusive thought in detail for others to understand what you are experiencing.
We understand that OCD and mental health difficulties can sometimes leave people feeling overwhelmed or hopeless.
Members are welcome to talk about their feelings, worries and experiences and to seek support.
However, posts must not contain:
If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact the appropriate emergency service or crisis support in your country. MeandMyOCD is a peer-support community and is not an emergency or crisis service.
You may discuss intrusive thoughts about harming other people as part of your OCD and seek support for dealing with these thoughts.
However, posts must not contain graphic descriptions, instructions, threats or encouragement relating to harming another person.
Remember: experiencing an unwanted intrusive thought does not mean you want to act on it.
We recognise that OCD can involve extremely distressing intrusive thoughts relating to sexual subjects, including fears and unwanted thoughts involving children.
Members may discuss these experiences and seek support for OCD without describing the thoughts in graphic or explicit detail.
Any content that is sexual in nature, sexually explicit, involves the sexualisation of children, or could place members at risk will be removed.
Everyone's experience of OCD is different.
Please treat other members with kindness, compassion and respect. We will not tolerate:
You can disagree with someone's opinion without attacking the person.
Because MeandMyOCD is an OCD community, we recognise that reassurance can sometimes become part of the OCD cycle.
Members should try to support one another without repeatedly providing reassurance that could reinforce someone's compulsions.
Where appropriate, encourage members to discuss these patterns with a qualified mental health professional or explore evidence-based OCD treatment and recovery strategies.
Advertising, spam, trolling and deliberately disruptive behaviour are not permitted. This includes:
Affiliate links, referral links and posts asking members to use referral codes or links are not permitted unless specifically approved by the MeandMyOCD administration team.
Please use care when sharing external websites, videos, images or other content. Content that is unsafe, inappropriate, illegal, sexually explicit, graphic, misleading or unrelated to OCD may be removed.
We may also remove links that we believe could be harmful to members.
MeandMyOCD aims to be accessible to as many people as possible. If you post in a language other than English, please provide an English translation where possible so that other members and the moderation team can understand and respond to your post.
Please avoid meaningless, extremely short or deliberately disruptive posts.
Repeatedly posting the same content, or creating multiple posts simply to increase your post count or gain attention, is not permitted.
Please protect your own privacy and the privacy of others. Do not publicly post another person's:
Publishing private correspondence or personal information without permission may result in the content being removed and further action being taken. Please remember that anything you post online may potentially be seen or shared by others.
The MeandMyOCD administration and moderation team will do their best to keep the community safe.
However, it is impossible to see every post or message immediately.
If you see something that you believe breaks these guidelines, please report it to the moderation team rather than responding publicly.
If you receive a message or post that concerns you, please do not engage in an argument. Report it to the moderation team and allow us to deal with it.
MeandMyOCD reserves the right to remove posts, comments, threads or other content that we believe:
Where necessary, content may be removed without prior notice.
The moderation team's priority is the safety and wellbeing of the community.
If you disagree with a moderation decision, please contact the administration team privately rather than challenging the decision publicly.
We are always happy to listen to genuine concerns and will consider them fairly.
MeandMyOCD is a place to connect with people who understand what living with OCD can feel like.
However, MeandMyOCD is not a replacement for professional medical or psychological care.
Information shared by members represents their own experiences and should not be considered medical advice.
If you are struggling with OCD, please consider speaking with a qualified healthcare or mental health professional.
Above all, we want MeandMyOCD to be a place where you don't have to hide what you're going through.
OCD can make people feel isolated, ashamed and frightened by their own thoughts. We want to create a community where people can talk openly, feel understood and discover that they are not alone.
Be kind. Be respectful. Be yourself. And remember — you are not your OCD.
